For an average family of four, it is recommended that you pump your septic tank every three to five years. Like changing the oil in your car, pumping your septic tank is periodic maintenance, which is necessary even though there are no apparent problems. Waiting for a problem to arise with your septic tank can damage the septic system, clog the effluent disposal fields or cause a septic backup costing you time and excess money. Emergency EPS wants to make your routine septic pumping and cleaning as hassle-free as possible. Please see the septic tank pumping recommendation chart on our FAQS page to know how often your septic tank needs to be pumped based on size of septic tank and household occupants.
Residential Septic Services we offer include:
Once you become a customer of Emergency EPS, we will kindly remind you via postcard when your next septic tank pump is recommended.
In order for your septic tank to stay properly maintained, there must always be healthy colony of bacteria living, eating and digesting waste within the septic tank. After the septic tank is pumped, a small amount of sludge will remain in the bottom of the septic tank. This promotes bacteria growth, which is necessary to breakdown solids. It is extremely important to properly maintain your septic system in order to prevent problems and to preserve the life of your system. See the illustration below for an example.
Septic tank additives and treatments WILL NOT ELIMINATE routine septic tank pumping.

It is NOT possible to eliminate pumping your septic tank by using additives or septic tank bacteria (ie: RID-X). No matter how efficient a septic tank bacteria additive is, there will always be a buildup of inorganic matter floating on top and lying at the bottom of the septic tank. Extreme buildup will plug the drain field lines. See illustration above.
Monthly doses of the beneficial bacteria and enzymes found in Emergency Environmental Septic Treatment (ST) packets will assist in maintaining the healthy colony of necessary bacteria. Emergency Environmental ST is a granular blend of bacterium that should be used every month. It is simple to use and is the most effective way to maintain your septic system.
Alternative additives or natural additives are often posted online or advertised as a fix for your full tank. They DO NOT work! Natural additives such as vinegar or yeast packets are not effective and will do absolutely nothing for the scum and sludge inside your septic tank. ONLY use products designed and approved for your septic tank!
We will treat your septic system with this bacterium after each pumping. The bacteria packets are also available for purchase, with or without our pumping service, in a convenient 12 pack year supply. Simply drop one packet a month into any toilet inside your house, wait for the packet to dissolve and flush. It's that easy! Please contact us for pricing or to order/re-order or you can purchase the one year's supply of bacteria below through PayPal and we will ship it to you for FREE!
